From this Day Forward

Idealism pays: that is the message of today’s green revolution. Some of those who have–in the immortal words of Marie Osmond– been country ever since country wasn’t cool are reaping rewards today that they never dreamed of when they committed to lives and businesses of social consciousness. Dress designer Crystal Miller is one of those. With her sweet smile and prodigious head of dreadlocks, the Santa Fe mother of two has become a rising star in the world of “green weddings.” Her hemp-silk wedding dresses were first featured here in localflavor in 2002 when her atelier in the back of Santa...

Home to the famous “miraculous staircase,” the chapel was built in the 1870s for the Sisters of Loretto, a Kentucky-based teaching order who were the first to respond to Bishop Jean-Baptiste’s plea (he wrote reported wrote hundreds of letters) for teachers to found schools in the wild west of Santa Fe. Imagine these nuns traveling by boat and covered wagon over the Santa Fe Trail, with the Bishop himself teaching them Spanish along the way. The dusty streets...

Maggie’s Cakes

Cakes have been my canvas for the last seven years. I have been creating highly unconventional and artistic wedding cakes for my private clientele throughout those years.
