Do-It-Yourself Electronics for Artists

The history of artists and musicians using unique electronic devices is long and rich. This course will guide the artist/musician through the history and pragmatic use of custom and re-purposed electronics for music, installation, and new media projects. Students will learn basic soldering skills, mounting and assembly of one of a kind components and the fine art of ‘hacking into’ or re-purposing a device with the intention of processing information in ways not intended by the manufacturers.
