Flight of Fancy: The Birds and Imagined Landscapes of Barbara Carter

Birds are often seen as bridges to another world, as intermediaries between heaven and earth. In Chinese mythology, the powerful wings of the crane convey souls up to paradise. In Barbara Carter's new work, birds carry us into imagined landscapes, created from captured and digitally constructed elements. Each of the 16 images is a photomontage; a bird, a landscape, added mist, texture and borders are brought together in one composition. Each is archivally printed and mounted on panels.
