For this class, we’ve prepared 3 hands-on exercises to help beginners become familiar with the aesthetics of editing and the software program Final Cut Pro. A “found footage” exercise will help novices become familiar with arranging clips on the timeline. Editing a documentary interview with cut-aways will give students an opportunity to shape meaning and message. The third exercise, editing a music video, offers students an opportunity to work on pacing and cutting to rhythm.
