This exhibit examines Mary Lee Bendolph's inspiration and creative process as well as her connection to the cultural practices and expressive traditions from which her work arises. 12 dramatically designed, richly colored, improvisational quilts created by Bendolph and her family; her mother Aolar Mosely, daughter, Essie B. Pettway, and daughter-in-law Louisiana P. Bendolph, are presented alongside found object sculptures by Thornton Dial and visionary "yard art" artist Lonnie Holley.
