Governor’s office to receive applications for Energy Innovation Fund, Clean Energy Projects
On April 30th Governor Bill Richardson solicited applications for the Clean Energy Projects program, and the Energy Innovation Fund. Earlier this year, the Governor proposed and the legislature funded a combined $3.5 million in capital equipment funds. These two funds continue Governor Richardson’s commitment to making New Mexico the “Clean Energy State.”
“The Energy Innovation Fund and Clean Energy Projects program will accelerate the innovation and adoption of clean energy technologies in our state,” said Governor Bill Richardson. “I’m calling on our clean energy entrepreneurs and innovators to put forward their ideas.”
Under Governor Richardson’s leadership, New Mexico has already taken great strides in clean energy – requiring that at least 20% of electric utility power supply come from renewable sources by 2020, creating the Renewable Energy Transmission Authority (RETA), and providing tax credits for increasing the production and use of clean energy.
The Clean Energy Projects program provides competitive grants to public entities for “clean energy” projects, including renewable energy, energy efficiency, and clean burning transportation fuels.
The Energy Innovation fund seeks projects that will accelerate the development of innovation to enable faster commercial adaptation of clean energy technologies in New Mexico.
