Earth and Sky: May 26 - June 1

It’s Mercury retrograde time again! On Memorial Day both Mercury and Neptune slow down and begin to backtrack. Holiday plans or picnics may encounter delays or minor irritating disruptions. Tuesday the moon enters Pisces bringing even more confusion to this retrograde effect. Go with the flow and don’t expect precision. Mercury will be retrograde until June 20th. It’s a good time to reconsider or see options you haven’t noticed before. Instead of using rational thinking, get creative in your approach to situations. Right brain activities are favored such as artistic inspiration, music, films and spiritual matters. Pay attention to your dreams.

The planetary energies throughout this year indicate it is a powerfully historical time which focuses upon politics, human rights and humanitarianism. There is a challenge for us to make a choice to begin to heal or continue to wound. Rather than looking to established governments to lead the way, grass roots organizations are playing an important role. Film, radio and the Internet are helping us share our ideas and create meaningful communication leading to more understanding between cultures. New ideas are beginning to emerge as we take responsibility for creating the type of life we want.

The Human Rights Torch Relay came through Santa Fe on May 18. It began last August with the intention to bring an end to all human rights atrocities in China before the Olympics.

A powerful film debuts this month, Dalai Lama Renaissance, narrated by Harrison Ford. The Dalai Lama invited 40 of the world’s innovative thinkers to his residence to discuss the world’s problems and solutions. The film features quantum physicists Fred Alan Wolf and Amit Goswami (from the movie What the Bleep Do We Know!?), Dr. Michael Beckworth (The Secret), Jean Houston and others.

This week is challenging but Saturday brings an opportunity to bring a successful conclusion to a project or decision. Another possibility is that an ongoing situation may come to a rapid end. Sunday is a good time to listen to your body and connect with it physically. Bodywork, beauty treatments or sensual enjoyment may renew you.

Please read the weekly forecast keeping in mind that aspects can be felt before they become exact.

Memorial Day

Mercury and Neptune Station Retrograde
Venus Square Saturn

Mercury goes retrograde 3 times a year for about 3 weeks. Since Mercury rules transportation and communications, it can create misunderstandings and breakdown in communication, equipment, cars. Files may get misplaced, emails lost or travel delays are possible. Actions taken may be premature. Double check everything during this time, since mistakes or misunderstandings are common.

So what is Mercury retrograde good for? Words that begin with “re” seem appropriate here. It is a time to review, edit, revise, research and go back over anything from February 19th to now. Process that information. Make corrections before moving forward with it. The time to take action will be June 20th at the summer solstice. Mercury retrograde is also an excellent time to focus upon any right brain activity. Sometimes objects lost can be found during this period.

Neptune goes retrograde every year for about 158 days. Since this planet is concerned with things that are hidden, this period gives us a chance to review our blind spots. These are areas we have ignored for some time and may have unconsciously undermined us. Neptune’s influence wears down what we have ignored or avoided for some time, like water wears down rock. It’s a slow process. These areas can include where we’ve been deceived by others, self-deception or illusions that we have believed to be reality. This time period calls for discrimination; clarify and ask questions rather than accepting on blind faith. Find a basis for your belief; and with Mercury retrograde, process all the information to arrive at a conclusion that makes sense to you.

Venus square Saturn can feel restrictive; your resources may feel like they are shrinking. A sense of doubt can permeate. Don’t expect things to work out on time now. Personally, your sense of self worth could be affected. You may feel lonely, unappreciated, or you may feel like something important is lacking in your life.

Tuesday, May 27

Mercury Square Uranus

Events move at a fast pace which could be nerve-wracking. Quick impulsive statements may be regretted later. This could happen politically. You or someone in your life may feel a need for a change. A new situation may enter unexpectedly.

Be careful when driving. Sudden moves could cause an accident.

Wednesday, May 28

Sun Sesquisquare Jupiter

Things don’t seem to go as smoothly as you expect and frustration can be felt. You may be forced to wait, something is not quite ready. Do not push too hard against this; it is best to use moderation. Use of force will backfire.

Thursday, May 29

Moon in Aries Square Pluto
Mercury Trine Chiron

Intense and strong emotions can be felt this afternoon.

A deep issue may reappear in order to give a chance to rework your approach and hopefully respond in a constructive manner. The concern here is that strong feelings could lead to re-wounding rather than healing it.

Don’t take anything for granted.

Sudden insight or new information, a “breakthrough” is possible.

Learning to listen to others in order to understand and empathize is important now.

Climate may affect food supplies, producers and consumers.

Friday, May 30 and Saturday May 31

Grand Trine with Moon, Saturn and Pluto
Moon Void of Course on Saturday

After 4:18 pm on Saturday, you may feel satisfied or relieved that an ongoing state of affairs has come to an end. A release of energy occurs and this could involve weather patterns. It is time to come up with new ideas and solutions to old problems. Brainstorm.

Sunday, June 1

Sun Sextile Mars

Energy is high today and you will want to get physical. These energies need an outlet, so find something to do which gives personal satisfaction or you may get frustrated. Be productive.
