As a child of two Midwestern English teacher parents where countless hours were spent at the dinner table hashing and rehashing book reports, essays, research papers, poems, short stories, et. al., Emily has developed a strong association between nourishment and letters. Becoming a food writer seemed like a natural progression. Also, she was named after Emily Dickinson. No pressure to write there. At least she didnʼt become a recluse. Specifically because it would be antithetical to a writing post wherein she has called to be social in an urban environment. And to pass down dinner table torture to the next generation, she has become an English teacher as well.
