Perfect Abiquiu Retreat

Beautiful Abiquiu Compound on the Chama River

This exceptional property contains a wonderful river-front location with high-quality improvements and serene views. The approximately 28 acre compound consists of three contiguous parcels of land, three residences and irrigated fields with twenty-four acre feet of water rights. The privacy and serenity of this property make it a perfect retreat location.

Residences

The main residence is a handsome two-story northern New Mexico style home of approximately 3,642 square feet, designed by architect, Ed Boniface. There are two screened porches, one of which overlooks the river. The living area has a magnificent, vaulted ceiling with exposed beams and the spacious kitchen is equipped with top of the line appliances. The three bedrooms and three baths include a master suite located upstairs, with an adjacent office/workspace.

The three bedroom and three bath guest house has approximately 2,674 square feet and occupies half of a two-story masonry building. The other half is now used as a shop, but could be converted to home gym, studio or other use. The shop occupies approximately 1,440 square feet. There is also an approximately 754 square feet, one bedroom and one bath adobe casita located near the entrance.

Land

The 28 acres of land include irrigated fields that are currently used for organic vegetable gardens by a farmer who sells his produce at the Santa Fe Farmer’s Market. The location of the land, about three miles north of Abiquiu and several miles south of the Abiquiu dam, insures an excellent, reliable source of irrigation water. In addition to its proximity to the Chama River, the property also has a series of man-made ponds for fishing, swimming, or great bird watching.

Views

The western views and privacy of this property are well protected, as the land directly across the river is part of the Santa Fe National Forest. Views extend to the reddish bluffs for which Abiquiu is noted, and to Cañones Mesa.
