Southern Crescent is located within the spectacular Galisteo Basin Preserve just south of Santa Fe. Twenty-two 3- to 9-acre home sites enjoy views of the dramatic Galisteo Basin and Ortiz Mountains and will be close to the services and amenities of the proposed Village at the Galisteo Basin Preserve. Southern Crescent home sites link to a community orchard and a planned 12,000 acres of protected open space and trails.
As part of the Galisteo Basin Preserve, Southern Crescent residents will help bring forward a visionary conservation initiative and an environmentally responsible master-planned community.
The Galisteo Basin Preserve
The Galisteo Basin Preserve is a conservation-based community development project located 13 miles southeast of Santa Fe in the central Galisteo Basin, a landscape celebrated for its scenic, cultural, and ecological values.
The Preserve conserves and restores 12,000 acres of publicly accessible open space, including more than 30 miles of public riding and hiking trails. The Village at the Galisteo Basin Preserve, which is embraced by the Preserve’s protected lands, is proposed as a new model of environmentally responsible mixed-use, mixed-income community development.
The Village is designed to support 965 homes along with services and amenities such as a charter high school, an elementary school, café, village market, chapel, post office, galleries, healthcare clinic, and offices. An inclusive community, the Village will provide a wide range of high-quality green-built homes in a variety of sizes and price points.
As a conservation neighborhood within the Galisteo Basin Preserve, Southern Crescent helps support the vision of the Preserve and the proposed Village. It is planned according to low-impact design principles and governed by green-building community covenants.
The Galisteo Basin Preserve, the Village, and Southern Crescent are initiatives of Commonweal Conservancy, a nonprofit conservation-based community development organization, and Commonweal Communities, its wholly owned subsidiary.
