Biographical Information
Paul Duran is a lifetime Santa Fe and Northern New Mexico resident. He is intimately familiar with the local culture and its diversity. Paul has the unique ability to develop and maintain long term relationships with the residents of his community, which include the Eight Northern Pueblos, as well as State, City and County elected officials.
A licensed New Mexico real estate broker since 1976, he has been associated with Sotheby's International Realty since 1984. Prior to his real estate career, Paul served as a photographer with the United States Navy and received an Honorable Discharge in 1972. He attended the University of New Mexico while honing his skills in the real estate profession. He is the father of two wonderful children who have been the focus of his life.
He served two terms as a Santa Fe County Commissioner, and was Chairman of the Board for four of those years. Paul’s strong ties to the community are evidenced by the numerous boards and committees on which he has served which include: Urban Policy Board, Historic Design Review Board, DWI Council, Transportation Board, Board of Adjustment, Chairman of the Regional Planning Authority, Chairman of the Extraterritorial Zoning Authority.
Paul’s 30 year career in the real estate industry has established him as an expert in both the residential and commercial markets, and his knowledge of city and county development codes provides him with the skills to advise his clients on complex local land use issues.

Paul’s areas of expertise include middle to high-end residential, vacant land, commercial, and income producing properties. He is a true advocate of Personal Property rights.
Paul has established himself as an expert in the 1031 Exchange process, and closed over $10,000,000 in exchanged properties in 2007. He has recently established santafe1031exchange.com, a service to his clients that assists them in locating qualified properties to complete their exchange.
