Incomparable Indian Market

At age 38, Jody Naranjo is a veteran of the Santa Fe Indian Market. A sixthgeneration potter from Santa Clara Pueblo in northern New Mexico, she has been working the annual art fest since age 5.

“(My family) has been at Indian Market since the beginning,” says Naranjo, who now lives in Albuquerque. “I got my own spot at the age of 20. About five generations in my family have been doing pottery before me and now my daughters are doing it.”

Rios, chef at Inn of the Anasazi who recently announced he is leaving to be partner at Geronimo in the City Different, prepared five dishes in the competition. For the Sunday event, he re-created all of the dishes, plus dessert.

“The more we learn about climate change the more we realize how it directly affects ski areas,” says Adriana Blake, marketing director for Taos Ski Valley, who added that ski seasons already seem to be starting later and ending earlier.

So, some of the state's ski areas are taking steps to reduce their carbon footprints— the amount...
