Adventure sports are nothing new for Caroline Colonna of Taos. The 44-year-old mother of four has competed in everything from extreme skiing competitions to triathlons to martial arts events.
But, today, Colonna and 19 others will compete in a race that is as mysterious to the general public as it is to its participants.

After the final hole of Tuesday’s District 2-5A golf tournament at the Marty Sanchez Links de Santa Fe, Caryn Fiorina greeted her daughter Chanet with a hug.
Chanet had just shot a 76 to run away with the district title, topping the field by seven strokes. And at least for that moment, mother and daughter could simply enjoy Chanet’s tourney win.
But the pair’s celebration was tempered by the fact that, despite Chanet earning the school’s first league crown in recent memory, her golf future — at least for this season — remains uncertain after Chanet was deemed academically ineligible March...

Clear skies and upper 40-degree temperatures were hardly what Michael Frey expected for "the day hell froze over."
"I thought it would be a lot colder," he said with a smile.
But Frey was not complaining.
The 18-year-old freshman at Texas Tech University made the seven-plus hour drive from Lubbock to be among the estimated 2,000 snowboarders on hand Wednesday for the official lifting of Taos Ski Valley's ski-only policy.
