Earth Day Activities in Santa Fe

Staff | - April 25, 2014

Santa Fe is celebrating Earth Day.  Want to join in the festivities?  Below are some Earth Day 2014 events that the public is invited (and encouraged) to attend:

On Saturday, April 26 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., join local communities and schools from around the region to learn about the amazing natural resources at Elephant Butte Lake State Park.  Fun, hands-on activities will teach participants ways to become better stewards of our planet as well as celebrate Arbor Day.

Santa Fe Community College takes Earth Day to the next level by celebrating Earth Week. From April 21 through April 27, the college comes to life with daily events, including tours, presentations, screenings, and more. Events are free and open to the community.

The sixth annual “Footprints on the Earth” brings together many presenters with activities, crafts, and games for all ages. Interactive booths teach us ways we can learn from our ancestors and explore new technologies to reduce our impact on the environment. Pueblo dancers will perform periodically in the plaza of West Ruin.

In honor of Earth Day 2014, Earth Care's Youth Allies leaders will hold our first ever Bike-A-Thon from the north side of town to the south side of town. We are a group of over a 100 young people committed to making positive change in out community.

Want to get even greener? Some other earth day related events taking place on the weekend of April 26th include:

The Panther Run has become one of the largest and best attended races in all of Santa Fe. The Panther Run consists of a 5K Run, a 2 Mile Walk and the premiere event is a 1K Kids’ Fun Run where the kids run by grade level from Pre-K to 6th grade.

In addition to approximately 90 vendors from all over northern New Mexico, DeVargas Center plans to unveil its own strong pulse on health and wellness in its newest tenant, Light Vessel and Love Yourself Café.
