Second week of Vivia Jazz

This is the second week for Viva Jazz hosted by Nacha Mendez. Check out some great Latin Jazz every Wednesday night from 7 to 9. Starting next Tuesday, February 20th we’ll be airing some special editions of The Beatles- All Jazzed Up. We’ll be featuring music from a particular Beatles album. We’ll start things off with music from the British version of A Hard Day’s Night. US and British Beatles releases were a bit different for a while, leaving off some music and adding music from a different album so we’ll just stick to the songs on the British versions. Wish we had a jazz version of every song but we have plenty of variety as it is.

We continue to get a great variety of new music every week. Some highlights are The Diva Jazz Orchestra- a 15 piece all female band. The Heavyweight Brass Band gets down and funky with a version of Tell Me Something Good. And the Idiomatiques has some nice Django-esque tunes. Be sure to tell all your friends far and wide about Santa Fe’s Community Jazz Station- 101-5 The Cat!

Vic Damone passed away Monday at age 89. Frank Sinatra said he had “the best pipes in the business.” We’ll feature Vic this Thursday night from 7 to 9 on the Kitty Cat Lounge.
