Celebrate Belen kicks off festival series with Country & Americana Music Festival

Proceeds from this inaugural event to benefit Valencia County veteran’s organizations.

Celebrate Belen will be launching its 1st Annual Country & Americana Music Festival in downtown Belen NM on Saturday August 17, 2013 from 11:00 AM until 9:00 PM. The doors open at 10:00 AM. This is the first in an ongoing series of street festivals to be held along Belen’s downtown Becker St. between 2nd St. and 5th St. This event will provide the very best regional Country and Americana bands live on two stages, along with ample room for dancing as well as many other community oriented street fair activities. In addition to this festival, visitors are encouraged to attend the 220th Annual “Our Lady of Belen Fiesta” which will be within walking distance. Celebrate Belen is initiating this festival series to promote economic development, aid various regional charities and provide cultural opportunities for Belen and its surrounding communities.  

The Inaugural Celebrate Belen Country and Americana Music Festival will have ten of the very best Country and Americana bands our region has to offer on two stages. 

The 2nd Street Stage will have the following bands:

Hard Road Trio  - Americana/Bluegrass

Sean Healen - Americana/Folk Rock/Rock

Joe Daddy, Hoodoo Jeff and the Swamp Kings - Swamp Blues

Squash Blossom Boys  - Bluegrass

Bob Andrews’ New Orleans Music Revue - New Orleans Blues, R&B

The 5th Street Stage will have the following bands:

Bob Farrell & The Brushfire Band  - Country/Swing

Rockabilly Strangers – Rockabilly

Broomdust Caravan – Country/Bluegrass/Americana

Felix y Los Gatos – Tex-Mex/Zydeco/Blues

Joe West and the Santa Fe Revue - Americana

In addition to the live music, this festival will also have:

Mercado with a Farmer’s Market, New Mexico Arts & Crafts

Custom Motorcycle Contest

Horseshoe Contest

Square Dancing

Western Melodrama at the Belen Library

Overnight camping for festival goers will be available at the Willie Chavez Park on River Road in Belen.

NM RailRunner service will be available to and from the festival and use of the NM RailRunner is highly encouraged. In addition to the normal NM RailRunner departures from Santa Fe and Albuquerque which will be going to the festival, there will be two special return departures from Belen for this event. They will be at 9:00 PM and 10:30 PM respectively. Information and tickets for the NM RailRunner are available on the NM RailRunner website. Free shuttle buses to and from the Country/Americana Festival and Our Lady of Belen Fiesta will be available from the park and ride locations and the NM RailRunner stop.

Handicap Parking and a limited number of paid parking spaces will also be available near the festival grounds for a nominal fee of $5 per vehicle.

Many Veterans’ organizations will participate to provide information and assistance to area Veterans. A raffle will be held with 100% of the proceeds going to Veterans relief.

Discounted general admission tickets can be purchased in advance for $15 online via Hold My Ticket. General admission tickets can be purchased at the gate the day of the show for $20. There will be discounted tickets available for $15 for military (with ID), students, and seniors. Children under 12 are free.
