El Rancho de Las Golondrinas: The Ranch of the Swallows

TAKE A JOURNEY TO THE PAST!

El Rancho de las Golondrinas was founded 300 years ago as a paraje – stopping place – on El Camino Real, the Royal Road to Mexico City. Today, it is a one-of-a-kind destination where the past comes to life, and exciting weekend programs are fun for the whole family!

The 200-acre ranch features restored original buildings, authentic structures built on old foundations and buildings brought in from other sites. A 1700s placita with defensive tower, an 1800s home with outbuildings, blacksmith shop, schoolhouse, mountain village, chapel, penitente morada, water-powered grist mills and more depict life in Spanish colonial and territorial New Mexico.

Costumed interpreters are located around the grounds to enhance the visitor’s experience and answer questions.

Most visitors choose to take self-guided tours of the ranch, aided by an illustrated guidebook. Guided tours are also available between April and October. Call for more information or to schedule.
