Hands-On History

A Day Camp for All Ages!

Summer Camp has a whole new meaning as El Rancho de las Golondrinas, 334 Los Pinos Road in Santa Fe, New Mexico, hosts Hands-On History: A Day Camp for All Ages.

Saturday, August 15, from 9:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. you're invited to become an expert in your chosen field! Work your way around the ranch and try your hand at weaving, baking in an horno, tanning hides and more, throughout the day, ALL for the admission price alone! Adults just $8.00; seniors and teens $4.00; and children 12 and under are always FREE!

There's something for everyone at this experience-based camp. Shoot a bow and arrow and toss an atlatl; make a survival bow; try your hand at branding; meet and work with master flintknappers; brain tan a hide; make a leather pendant to take home; make a fire; cook a tortilla; bake biscochitos in an horno; make and take home a walking stick; make a jump rope; and play pitarilla, an ancient game brought to New Mexico in 1598.
