Heritage Holidays in Santa Fe

Perfect places for holiday gatherings in the City Different.

Need some hassle-free ideas to ring in the holidays in Santa Fe this year? Santa Fe's line of Heritage Hotels could be a perfect solution, where family and friends will enjoy award-winning craft cocktails, seasonal feasts and festive gatherings. With nine properties in Santa Fe, Heritage combines a blend of Native American, Spanish and American Western cultural and historical influences with timeless designs, innovative craftsmanship, and the epitome of hospitality. From the historic Hotel St. Francis off the Plaza, named for Santa Fe's patron saint with décor that reflects early Franciscan missionary days, to the Spanish Colonial-inspired Hotel Chimayo de Santa Fe , the contemporary and deluxe Eldorado Hotel & Spa, or the convivial and first class Lodge at Santa Fe, Heritage properties offer perfect places to celebrate the holidays. Whether you're getting together with friends for Happy Hour or gathering the whole family for a holiday feast, you'll find dazzling drinks, enticing menus and a festive ambiance at each hotel. And you could choose to make a night of it and book a room with Heritage, as the hotels offer holiday getaway packages with great deals. Why not treat yourself to a de-stressing spa treatment, while you're at it, since this time of year can get a bit overwhelming...

Raise your glass and toast the holidays at Secreto Lounge, with all the style and charm of the Hotel St. Francis. Revered bartender Chris Milligan creates “Garden-To-Glass” and vintage cocktails, concocted with local fruit, veggies, herbs, spirits and bitters. The award-winning Spicy Secreto is a signature drink here, made with Cabana Cachaca and St. Germain elderflower liqueur, fresh cucumber, jalapeño, lime juice and cane syrup and rimmed with red chile salt. Or try the Agave Way, a “tequila-soused, green-chile-infused combination of agave nectar, muddled grapes and lime juice.” If you're planning to host a holiday gala, you can rent out the entire lounge for your guests for an indelible holiday event.

Hotel Chimayo's Low'n'Slow Bar is a festive spot for dazzling drinks like the Green Chile Margarita and the Chocolate Martini. Don't miss the delectable food prepared by Chef Estavan Garcia, including Chimayo's Tacos, filled with lamb, beef or chicken; or Estavan's Enchilada, and a green chile cheeseburger made with New Mexico-raised beef and served with truffle fries.

Make an evening of it at the luxurious Eldorado Hotel & Spa's Cava Lounge, with live entertainment and a Basque-inspired menu of small plates — empanadas with sherry mushrooms, truffle arugula and salsa verde; yucca fries with chipotle-herb dip; salt cod fritters with lemon caper mayo. One of my faves here is the pinchos, mini Spanish open-faced sandwiches with slow-braised Spanish pork shoulder, forest mushrooms and spinach. Be decadent and order dessert as the housemade churros with Mexican chocolate are divine. Don't like chocolate? Then get the caramel banana crisp martini with mango sauce and vanilla ice cream.

To celebrate the holidays in New Mexico style, head over to Garduno's Restaurant & Cantina at The Lodge for regional specialties, including guacamole prepared tableside, stuffed chile rellenos, red carne adovada and more. Garduno's is also open for breakfast and offers a daily Happy Hour. The Maria Benitez Theater is a sweet and intimate performance space within the Lodge, offering what is most certainly some of New Mexico's most distinct entertainmet. Check the calendar at SantaFe.com to see what is on schedule.
