Santa Fe Persuasion

From soul to style – in Santa Fe with photographer Gabriella Marks.

Santa Fe captivates a person’s spirit in a way very few places can achieve. The way we walk, the way we talk, our clothes – it’s a departure from what you hear and see elsewhere. Since people of all ages and backgrounds have been coming here for a thousand years, Santa Fe - the oldest state capitol - is a cultural reservoir. A fusion happened when the Spanish and Anglo colonists arrived upon the Native Americans, and was further affected by the utilitarian and pioneering energy of the wild west (historical trauma notwithstanding). It wasn’t long before the thriving Southwestern mode was informed by artists and socialites who loved the light, landscape, and the cross-cultural living that brought an escape from conventions.

In Santa Fe, being oneself is not a calculated risk, never self-conscious – the spiritual kinship to the classical influence and the demands of the high desert landscape are a catalyst for self‐expression. Although we continue to see an evolution of traditions and trends, there's a deep-rooted attitude that remains. The creators of Santa Fe Persuasion are wandering photographers with lenses focused on the City Different.  We know we’re lucky to be here.
