#1: People, Politics and Passions

Santafe.com - July 11, 2011

"At the Height of laughter, the universe is flung into a kaleidoscope of new possibilities."

The rumors that there is nothing new under the sun are no longer true.  The internet and its virtual worlds have burst our comfortable web of knowledge.  America is at a crossroad politically, socially and mentally – even our brains are changing.  Dramatic changes in national leadership, religious influence and weather take place around the world hourly. Thousands of new ideas, goods and political alliances that knowledgeable people want to understand burst in our world every day.  It is impossible for any one person to keep track of them, but we can stay informed about the important ones.

In this column, I plan to share with you some of these ideas, products and people.

The person whom I want to bring to your attention today is Julia Cameron, patron saint of writers and artists.  She is the author of over thirty books on creativity and its sister subjects.  A fresh voice in Santa Fe, she can inspire any of us, not just artists, to go beyond our usual creative boundaries.

The following is her tried and tested way to jump-start your creativity.  In her best-selling book, The Artist’s Way, Julia recommends that every morning we write three pages, letting our words flow, writing down our concerns, whatever comes to mind.  Don’t be concerned about a finished product, just write.  By doing this exercise we clear our heads of stuff that could distract us during the day.  We also open our minds to inspiration. Try it!

You can find out more about at Julia@Juliacameronlive.com.  Remember to laugh today!

I look forward to being with you next week.  Please share your ideas.  You can reach me at womensvoicess@comcast.net
