If you're a fan of "Chopped" -- the Food Network's show in which competitors are given ingredients in a basket and must prepare a four-course meal using all their skills, speed and knowledge to win the challenge -- then do not miss the 5th Annual International Cuisine Student Competition at 2 p.m. on Thursday, October 27 in Room 413 at the Santa Fe Community College.
This competition features four teams of four students who will prepare a meal from one of four countries featured in this year's cuisines – France, Italy, South America and Africa. The students will open their baskets at 1:30 p.m. and have the meal ready by 4:30 p.m., hoping to impress the judges and win bragging rights.
The soups, starters, entrées and desserts prepared by the four teams will be judged by Matt Ostrander of the Inn of Loretto's Luminaria; James Campbell Caruso of La Boca; Charles Dale of Terra at Encantado; Rocky Durham; and Tanya Story of SFCC.
The winners will receive chef's knives and coats, sharpening steels and other kitchen tools. For more info, visit http://www.sfcc.edu/news_and_events.
