Community Pride: The New Trades & Advanced Technology Center at SFCC - August 1, 2011

"With sustainable energies at the forefront of research and implementation, SFCC has taken a strong stand..."

Santa Fe Community College is like no other community college I’ve seen. It continues to grow by providing state-of-the-art facilities and education for a wide range of attending students.

Santa Fe is not a large community and yet we offer an unparalleled educational opportunity. Our community college students come in all ages with a variety of backgrounds and experience, those that are young, old, retired, re-entering—all wanting to further their knowledge and implement their learning—and this is the place to do it.

If you haven’t seen the new Trades & Technology Center, stop in. You’ll be pleasantly surprised. The cutting-edge contemporary facility will offer an educational track in the fast growing industry of sustainable technologies. At 45,336 sq. ft., this clean energy and conservation-focused facility, is a beautiful addition to the ever-growing campus.

Permits, plans and buildings never happen overnight and the recent Green Gala 2011 honored those that provided the vision, commitment and determination to see a remarkable community dream come true. There were many that were named and it was obvious by the tears shed that their commitment runs deep. I clapped for each, knowing that without them, our community would not have the benefit of an inspiring facility and educational program.

It’s timely. With sustainable energies at the forefront of research and implementation, Santa Fe Community College has taken a strong stand. The new era ushers in an educational opportunity that will benefit New Mexico in ways we have yet to imagine. Bravo to those that created a vision that will help to shape the future of New Mexico.
