Cool Weather Good for Casino Business - October 31, 2011

"The three casinos on Pueblo of Pojoaque tribal lands are all cooking up special promotions..."

Cooler weather and the holidays can be good for casino business, as many patrons enjoy the coziness a casino to offer.

The three casinos on Pueblo of Pojoaque tribal lands---Buffalo Thunder, Cities of Gold and the Sports Bar---are all cooking up special promotions and/or events to attract the indoor crowd.

Coming up first at the Sports Bar, located in Pojoaque between Buffalo Thunder and Cities of Gold, is the Breeder’s Cup Classic on November 5. The Sports Bar features big screen TVs to watch sports and is a “mini-casino” in that there are slot machines.  But what makes the Sports Bar unique is that it features Simulcasting, in essence, off track betting.  The Breeder’s Cup is one of the major events in horse racing and if you enjoy the “Sports of Kings,” you will enjoy the atmosphere in the Sports Bar.

Also on tap at the Sports Bar is UFC Fight Night on Saturday, November 12.

Casino Promotions

At the nearby Cities of Gold Casino, the big promotion of the month is called “$50,000 Leaves of Plinko”.   Customers who qualify can win up to $2,500 daily with $10,000 cash given away on Friday, December 2.

At Buffalo Thunder the November promotion has been dubbed the “$75,000 Moneybags Giveaway,” with daily winners of “free slot play” and a chance to win $25,000 cash on Saturday, December 3.

As with virtually all casino contests and promotions, participants are required to be members of the players club. Rules and regulations usually are posted or are available at the player’s club booth.

11-11-11 Veterans Day

Both Cities of Gold and Buffalo Thunder have special promotions on this day.  Veterans Day T-shirts are available to those who earn ten points and a 1/2 price buffet is available at Buffalo Thunder for veterans who show their military ID.

Thanksgiving Day Buffets

Casino Buffets go all out on “Turkey Day.”  At Cities of Gold, the Thanksgiving feast is $14.99; at Buffalo Thunder the price is $19.99 for player’s club members, $26.95 for non-members.

At the Cities of Gold, there will be a Jimmy Buffet Tribute on Friday, Nov. 4 at 7:30 pm.  Tickets are $5 at the door.

Buffalo Thunder again is hosting a King of the Cage event on Nov. 19.  The main event features Angelo Sanchez vs. Jacob Clark.  Tickets start at $40.
