I hope you had a great holiday weekend....It was a little wild in Santa Fe....if a little quieter due to the absence of neighborhood fireworks. We were working round the clock at Radio Free Santa Fe to get the latest Los Conchas fire updates on the air (and santafe.com), running newscast every thirty minutes between 8 am and 8 pm until local Los Alamos residents could head home on Sunday. There was a dustup at The Cowgirl on Saturday night between management and the band that was booked to play, and the subsequent brouhaha had bands and bars all over town choosing up sides. The movie theaters were packed as families looked to escape the 100 degree heat. KBAC was out at Pancakes on the Plaza for the 14th year in a row, enjoying the syrupy goodness and handing out goodies, all to benefit local charities. Tuesday kicked off the summer Bandstand concert series also downtown on the Plaza. Our friends at Outside In outdid themselves with this year's lineup as locals and tourists alike can enjoy free shows with Mose Allison, Cracker, Eliza Gilkyson, Shannon McNally, the opening night attraction The Iguanas and the best local artists the area has to offer. Whew, it never ends! Hey, did anyone catch Chris Isaak at the Albuquerque Zoo? I'd be interested in hearing how he was as I missed him for the first time in decades!
