Serving upscale gastropub fare all day and night...

Think Santa Fe doesn't have a hip nightlife? Then you don't know Boxcar, a live music venue and sports bar serving delicious gastropub fare all day long and through the night (until 1:30 am!). On any given evening, you'll find a crowd here enjoying the music, the games and the food.

Grab a seat at the city's longest bar, with 24 seats and 18 beers on tap, or at a table on the enclosed patio, with a fireplace to keep you warm in cold weather. Play eight-ball at a regulation-size pool table or root for your favorite team at one of 14 TVs airing almost every sport, from football and hockey to European and South America league soccer games. Fridays and Saturdays feature live music with touring bands and musicians from across the country. Mellow Mondays chills it with music by DJ Sato; Tuesdays rock with the iconic Canyon Road Blues Jam; and Wednesdays are devoted to Karaoke.

Boxcar focuses on great food as much as music and sports, and the meals are made with locally-sourced and organic ingredients as much as possible. Most of the fare is prepared in-house, including the fresh-baked bread and the menu's 21gluten-free options.

You could make a full meal out of the starters alone, as there are nearly 20 to choose from, including the winning crispy house-smoked chicken wings smothered in classic buffalo sauce, Thai sambal , a hot sauce, or red chile BBQ. Other apps that knock it out of the park includeAvocado Tempura, Bacon-Wrapped Jalapeno Poppers and Barrio Brinery Fried Pickles served with spicy ranch. For heat seekers, the Japanese Calamari comes with jalapeños, house sour sambal and aioli made with the infamous ghost pepper.

Sandwiches cover the gamut, from the famous Omaha Reuben—with Guinness corned beef, Swiss cheese, Barrio Brinery sauerkraut and Thousand Island dressing piled high on Jewish rye— to the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich, featuring grilled or fried chicken breast tossed in the restaurant's classic buffalo sauce and served with blue cheese crumbles and dressing . El Cubano is feast of mojo-brined, slow-smoked Kyzer pork and sweet honey ham with Swiss cheese, pickles, coleslaw and Dijon aioli, all pressed on brioche. Bodacious burgers include the Boxcar Burger, with foie gras, pork belly, balsamic braised onions and arugula and the Black & Blue Burger with smoked bacon, blue cheese and black pepper aioli.

For signature dinner entrees try the fried chicken on a Belgian waffle with Guinness gravy, New Mexico red chile butter and waffle syrup; or Boxcar Mac'n'Cheese, a creamy concoction of crispy bacon, Kyzer pork belly, chicken breast, spinach, roasted red peppers and Hatch green chile, all smothered in Tucumcari cheddar and mozzarella. There are daily specials, too, such as creamy pesto pasta served with spinach, red bell peppers, Black Tiger Shrimp and garlic bread, tacos Veracruz, meatloaf and more.

Boxcar is also open during the daytime for lunch and brunch, where you'll find such classics as Biscuit & Gravy, with a house honey biscuit, Boxcar gravy and bacon or ham, Eggs Benedict and The Monte Cristo, a deep-fried sandwich stuffed with smoked pork, turkey and New Mexico Gouda, sprinkled with powdered sugar and served with berry compote. The Boxcar Slam, made of toast and two eggs your way with home fries, a berry smoothie shooter and bacon or ham, is a home-run winner.

So the next time you're looking for some late-night music or a midnight feast, head on over to Boxcar. Heck, head on over anytime, as there's always something cooking here.
