Summer's heating up and so is the city's cuisine scene...

Summer's heating up in Santa Fe and so is the city's cuisine scene. An exciting new food truck has rolled into town, and one of the city's acclaimed restaurants has begun serving a stellar brunch. A cornucopia of events include the Edible Art Tour—a longstanding foodie favorite that pairs galleries with chefs to showcase artistic creativity—a wine workshops devoted to BBQ and a celebration of rosé. Here's just a small sampling of summer food fun this month in Santa Fe.

Meow Wolf's Trinity Kitchen

What could easily become one of the country's most famous food trucks is parked at Meow Wolf, one of the city's best-known art destinations. Specializing in Cajun/Creole fare, Trinity Kitchen serves up some of the cuisine's classics, including a killer smoked chicken and house-made sausage gumbo, fried Gulf oyster po’boys with spicy remoulade sauce and smoked baby back ribs. The pulled pecan-smoked pork po’boys are made with Kyzer pork prepared in Trinity Kitchen's own smoker, located on the side porch of the truck. The menu also includes fried chicken and waffles, and beignets.

The restaurant takes its name from the holy trinity of Cajun cooking—finely chopped and sauteed onions, celery and green bell peppers. The duo behind the truck— Eliot Chavanne and Connor Black, are from Shreveport, La. and have been best friends since the third grade. Chavanne has been working at Meow Wolf since last fall as a docent and front deskperson and he persuaded Meow Wolf CEO Vince Kadlubek that the art collective venue needed a food truck—not just for the crowds visiting the the "House of Eternal Return” but also for guests at Meow Wolf's live concerts.

Chavanne is just 25 but he has a rich background in culinary arts, having worked at the Mabry House, a traditional French restaurant in Shreveport, and at Whole Foods in New Orleans and Santa Fe. Black has a background in the hotel and hospitality industry and in restaurant catering for large events. Their menu features locally sourced ingredients as much as possible and everything is made from scratch.

Sunday Brunch @ Eloisa

John Rivera Sedlar is one of Santa Fe's most celebrated chefs, whose L.A. restaurants—including St. Estephe and Rivera—drew rave reviews and celebrity crowds. He returned to his native Santa Fe to open Eloisa in the Drury Plaza Hotel in 2015 and was quickly nominated for a coveted James Beard for Best New Restaurant. Eloisa became an instant hit with locals and visitors alike, acclaimed for its creative, contemporary take on Southwestern fare.

Now, Eloisa is serving Sunday brunch, delighting diners with Sedlar's new creations— tempura blue-cornmeal crusted soft-shell crab sandwich with habanero-lime tartar sauce and shoestring potatoes; Southwestern-style eggs Benedict with jamon serrano, poached eggs and chipotle bernaise; and braised brisket hash with, fingerling potatoes, peppers and 63-degree eggs. Try the huevos grits, with soft grits, poached eggs, lardons, rajas, calabacitas and queso cojita. If you have a sweet tooth, the panqeques (pancakes) are served with fresh blueberries and pedro ximeniz blueberry compote. What a great addition to the Sunday brunch scene in Santa Fe.

Fun with Wine

This summer, you'll know exactly which wines pair best with your beef, chicken and other BBQ mains and sides after a Saturday Wine Workshop at Arroyo Vino on June 3 devoted to favorite wines for the BBQ season. Learn about current and classic favorites as well as a few new surprises. You can also explore the refreshing world of rosés during the Annual Arroyo Vino Rosé Extravaganza on June 10, spotlighting some of the season's top rosés.

A Moveable Feast

The Annual Edible Art Tour returns to dazzle collectors and culinary fans alike on June 9-10 from 5 to 8pm. This citywide feast brings chefs into galleries to serve artful fare inspired by the work on exhibit downtown (June 9) and on Canyon Road (June 10). Friday’s restaurant pairings include The Pantry and Joe Wade Fine Art; Cowgirl BBQ and Little Bird at Loretto; Del Charro and Galerie Zuger; and Barrio Brinery and 7 Arts Gallery. On Saturday, venues include Josephs of Santa Fe and Bittersweet Designs by Laurie Lenfesty; Barbara Meikle Fine Art and Del Charro Saloon; Loyal Hound and Canyon Road Contemporary; Cafe Sonder and Sage Creek Gallery; Cacao Santa Fe and Winterowd Fine Art; La Plazuela and Photogenesis; and The Teahouse and Bill Hester Fine Art. New this year, guests are invited to vote for best gallery/restaurant pairing. Ticket sales benefit ARTsmart programs for the youth of New Mexico.
