"Come on out and celebrate autumn's offerings, the foods of New Mexico, during the Santa Fe Harvest Festival..."
November is all about reaping the harvest, and Santa Fe celebrates New Mexico's bounty all month long with the Santa Fe Harvest Festival.
From November 1 through 23, the festival offers restaurant discounts, cooking classes, a Chef Showdown, Bar Wars!, the Grand Gourmet food and wine expo and the Best of the Fest, a competition finale and gala dinner.
Many Santa Fe restaurants will offer significant dining discounts from November 1 through 23, worth hundreds of dollars. Santa Fe's top chefs will share their culinary secrets in cooking classes, demos and tastings for adults and kids alike. The classes take place at restaurants and other venues.
Cheer for your favorite server in the Restaurant Relay as they race around the Plaza, carrying trays loaded with drinks and trying not to spill a drop. Or root for your favorite chef in the Chef Showdown, which determines four finalists in two elimination rounds who compete in the Best of the Fest finale. The Chef Showdown's first round takes place at The Inn & Spa at Loretto, and the second round at Buffalo Thunder Resort.
The amateur version of this contest, the Chef Showdown: Amateur Version, features home chefs competing before each elimination round. The winner earns a set of Chantal professional Copper Fusion Collection cookware.
In Bar Wars!, Santa Fe's top mixologists mix, muddle, strain and shake to create the best adult drinks for a $1,000 prize. Finalists in these games advance to compete in the Bar Wars! finale at the Grand Gourmet to win the Best of the Fest title. The elimination round is held at Buffalo Thunder Resort.
The Grand Gourmet is a fine food and wine expo featuring 50 booths at the Eldorado Hotel. Sample wine and food tastings from local restaurants and enjoy culinary exhibitions and demos, cookbook signings with celebrity chefs, and the thrilling Bar Wars! Finale. You can also bid on silent auction items benefiting Cooking with Kids.
The Best of the Fest finale and gala dinner features a cocktail hour, silent auction, and dinner prepared by the Eldorado Hotel's executive chef Anthony Smith. You'll also watch the final thrilling competition for the Best of the Fest title. Celebrity judges include Sara Moulton, John Rivera Sedler and Bradley Ogden.
