Slot Tournaments at Ohkay Casino - November 7, 2011

"Slot tournaments do not require a lot of special skills, which levels the playing field and makes them inviting to all players"

Ohkay Casino, located on State Road 68 just north of Espanola, will be giving away cash and bonus cash for winners in their Thursday and Sunday “Free Slot Tournament” promotion.

Players will be selected to play in the free slot tournaments every Thursday and Sunday, beginning at 5 p.m.  The top nine contestants will compete in the final round at 8:30 p.m.  The casino will be giving away $9,000 in cash and bonus cash as part of this promotion.  Full details are available at the Ohkay Casino player’s club.

So what is a slot tournament?  How one qualifies to play varies, but in most cases it’s very simple.  A bank of slot machines is designated for the tournament.  All players are given a set amount of credits which must be played within a certain amount of time.   Each time you hit the spin button, the amount of credits for a maximum bet (usually three credits) are deducted from your starting credits. Any credits you win are shown on a separate meter. You do not get to replay any credits that you win. When your time is up, the machine will lock up and play is over. Any credits that you have not played will be lost. The score on your winning meter will be compared to those of the other players to determine the winner.

Slot tournaments do not require a lot of special skills, which levels the playing field and makes them inviting to all players. Like all slot machines, you will need a little luck to make it to the top.

Here are some other gaming promos at Ohkay Casino:

-        Free Bonus Bingo Blitz every Monday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
-        “Fabulous 50s” $5 bonus cash to all qualified players over the age of 50 from 7 a.m. to just before midnight.
-        Big Cash giveaways Wednesdays ($3,000) and Fridays ($5,000).
-        Coca Cola giveaway Saturdays (earn 40 points and receive a 12-pack of Coke).

Almost every gaming promotion at casinos requires participants to be members of their players club and players qualify by using their cards when they play the various gaming machines. Entries and the number of entries one gets are earned by the amount of points garnered by the amount of coin in.  In other words, the more money you play through a machine, the more points you earn.

New York or rib eye steaks are only $12.99 as part of “Steak House Saturdays” in the Festival Buffet.  A sirloin or three-piece chicken dinner is only $9.99.  All meals include salad, potentate and dessert bar.

“The Godfather of New Mexico Music,” Al Hurricane performs Nov. 23 in the Ohkay Conference Center.  Tickets for the dance/show are $10.  Also features Al Hurricane Jr.
