"...I walked through the garden and felt my spirits lift when I saw that one of my spindly sunflowers had quietly bloomed!"
Thursday was so beautiful that I got all wrapped up in it and didn't get this post done in time! So, here's your Thing of Beauty Thursday...for a Friday.
The drought has wreaked havoc on my garden, this summer, and all my surviving plants are stunted and sad. Two years ago, my garden was lush, colorful, filled with mystery under the leaves. Now, the leaves of too many of my plants are yellow, and as I turn them over in my hands I pray that something will survive. That something will be harvested. As of today, August 12, we've picked two cucumbers, a handful of cherry tomatoes, some kale, and a sunburned jalapeno.
But last night, as the rain clouds billowed out of the northern horizon, and the air began to cool, I walked through the garden and felt my spirits lift when I saw that one of my spindly sunflowers had quietly bloomed! And so, it was a beautiful Thursday. Hope yours was too!
