"The ultimate 'Buy Local' experience..."
If the crush of people at Spanish Market during Santa Fe’s busy summer season is not your favorite thing about experiencing the traditional arts of Santa Fe and, if you want to have a moment to visit with artists from this world-renowned market in a more personal way, Winter Spanish Market next weekend is for you. Over 100 artists will be showing their traditional art at this 23rd Annual Winter Market in the Santa Fe Community Convention Center on Saturday, Dec. 3 and Sunday, Dec. 4.
And, talk about “buying local?” This is the ultimate “Buy Local” experience, where you have an opportunity to talk with an artist about his or her work, learn more about the nature of each art form and, often, begin a relationship with the artist as a member of our community. I always want to spend time with artists from whom I buy and learn more about their process and about them. It makes the object itself more a part of my home.
Many pieces will have holiday themes and are perfect for your home, or to be given as gifts. So, this might also be a holiday shopping option to Black Friday or Cyber Monday – no need to camp out in front of the Convention Center, ample parking in the garage below and no pepper spray allowed.
The Market is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday. Admission is free.
And, of special note is the WinterNite Party on Friday, Dec. 2, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., also held at the Santa Fe Convention Center. Market artists will be able to exhibit and sell their art at this special evening event, which will also feature music and food. Tickets are $25 for Spanish Colonial Arts Society members and $40 for non-members. To buy tickets for this very special event, call 982-2226.
HINT: You might find yourself able to purchase “the best of the best” at this pre-Market event.
