Meet Santa Fe Farmers’ Market Institute
Established in 2002, the Santa Fe Farmers’ Market Institute, a non-profit organization, was formed to support the Santa Fe Farmers’ Market in its mission to provide the community with easy access to nutritious, locally sourced produce. Its initial objective was to secure and sustain a cost-effective, year-round location for vendors to showcase their products.
Over the years, the Institute has broadened its support for the local farming sector through initiatives like professional development and training for farmers, microloans, and business advice. It also runs the Double Up Food Bucks program, which amplifies the purchasing power of EBT/SNAP users, thus boosting the economy of northern New Mexico by backing its agricultural community. In collaboration with the Santa Fe Farmers’ Market, the Institute also works to deliver fresh, wholesome produce to the Southside through the Santa Fe Farmers’ Del Sur Market.
The Institute is dedicated to supporting local farmers, ranchers, and land-based producers. It aims to ensure fair access to fresh, local food, manage a permanent venue for the Santa Fe Farmers’ Market throughout the year, and implement initiatives that nurture a profitable, locally-driven agricultural sector.
