BeWellnm Appoints Robert J. Heckert to its Board of Directors
Albuquerque, NM – BeWellnm, New Mexico’s Health Insurance Exchange, is pleased to announce that Robert J. “Jim” Heckert has joined its Board of Directors in January 2017. He is to serve the remainder of Dr. Larry Leming’s term, ending June 30, 2017. Heckert brings over 20 years of healthcare service and management experience.
Heckert is currently the Chief Executive Officer at Gerald Champion Regional Medical Center in Alamogordo. He has held leadership positions with Daviess Community Hospital, Walter Reed Medical Center, North Atlantic Health Service Support Area, and Community Hospital in Heidelberg, Germany. In his current role at Gerald Champion Regional Medical Center, Mr. Heckert manages all business, administrative, and executive functions of the hospital. He previously served as the Special Assistant to the Deputy Surgeon General and Chief of TRICARE Division at the office of the Surgeon General, Department of the Army. The Office of the Surgeon General in Falls Church, Virginia is the Executive Headquarters for worldwide medical operations for the U.S. Army Medical Department (AMEDD).

His large range of healthcare management will help steer our decisions to successfully operate New Mexico’s health insurance exchange and meet New Mexican’s needs. He will surely be an asset to our board,” said Dr. J.R. Damron, Chair of the beWellnm Board of Directors.
Heckert has also served as a board member for the New Mexico Hospital Association, United Way, Indiana Hospital & Health Association, District of Columbia Hospital Association and as a member of Daviess County Economic and Development Council and Indiana Health Informatics Corporation.
