The Concert In Support of Standing Rock is taking place Tuesday, December 6th at 7PM at the KTAOS Solar Center located at 9 State Road 150 in Taos, New Mexico. Featuring music from David Garver and Bones of Romeo, Taos favorites Jimmy Stadler and Mina Tank, and Grammy Award winner Robert Mirabal from Taos Pueblo. All proceeds of the event will be taken directly to the front lines of the protest.

Admission to the concert will be a donation of water in one gallon or larger containers, wool socks, sleeping bags, flashlights with batteries, or wool or thermal blankets that will be loaded directly into a truck and taken to Cannonball. Donations of cash or check made to Standing Rock Sioux Tribe will be accepted as well. Chris Lujan from Taos Pueblo will be the presenter and guest speaker for the evening. Chris spent two weeks at Standing Rock and has personally witnessed the ongoing struggle. He is also one of the leaders of the Taos movement, Pueblo Water Protectors in Support of Standing Rock. Monetary donations will be used for legal, sanitary and emergency purposes!

Called “A spectacular sight…” by the New York Times, the encampment on the Cannonball River has been growing since the protests began months ago. “The people are in need of water and blankets, and we’re going to drive them there,” stated Mr. Garver. Since many donations have been stymied by federal and state officials, the organizers of the event feel the most effective way of getting materials to the protesters is to drive it themselves. “I’m looking for a van or an enclosed truck to take the donations directly to the people,” says Garver.

The goal is to raise awareness, funds, and gather much needed supplies for the Standing Rock Sioux tribe’s movement to stop the building of Dakota Access Pipeline, which threatens Native lands and could contaminate their water supply from the Missouri river.
