May 1, 2017; Santa Fe, New Mexico:

Laura Zabel, Executive Director of Springboard for the Arts, will present a

Communities.” She will help us look to the future in Santa Fe, discussing

national trends regarding creative sector work and her nationally

renowned organization’s focus on building vibrant communities through

toolkits and trainings for artists and other creative professionals, creative

placemaking projects, and partnerships. Laura will help us imagine a

Santa Fe where art is a powerful and accessible tool for change. The

lecture takes place on May 22 from 5:30 to 7:00 pm at the Adobe Rose

Theatre, 1213 Parkway Drive, Unit B, Santa Fe. Tickets are $5.00, please

Laura Zabel is a frequent speaker on arts and community development at convenings such as the Aspen Ideas Festival,

most influential people in the U.S. Nonprofit Arts, and received the 2012 Visionary Leader award from the Minnesota

Council of Nonprofits.

Her organization, Springboard for the Arts, is an economic and community development organization for artists and by

artists, based in St. Paul, Minnesota. Springboard for the Arts’ mission is to cultivate vibrant communities by connecting

artists with the skills, information, and services they need to make a living and a life. Their work is about creating

communities and artists that have a reciprocal relationship, where artists are key contributors to community issues and

are visible and valued for the impact they create. They do this work by creating simple, practical solutions and systems

to support artists. Those programs support their goal to help create a local culture movement.
