A 2 hour Chocolate Immersion Workshop. We guarantee you will never look at chocolate the same way after participating in this fun hands on chocolate experience. Led by Master Chocolatier Melanie Boudar you will learn about the cacao tree where its grown, the challenges farmers face growing cacao and how it's harvested. What gives chocolate it's flavor? The post harvest practices like fermentation and drying of the beans and finally the critical roasting step which we do in our factory. Participants will crack, winnow and grind beans into a paste suitable to make a drinking chocolate. You will chose spices and sweetness .
After enjoying your handiwork we will do a guided tasting of 7 unique chocolates from different origins, including chocolate grown in Hawaii, the only state in the US able to grow it.
Our time is sprinkled with interesting chocolate facts, an overview of Mesoamerican chocolate history , a tour of our working chocolate making equipment in the factory and the many adventures we've experienced on our quest for fine chocolate in Venezuela, Belize, Ecuador, Peru, Mexico and Europe.
