Leadership Santa Fe's ‘Class of 2017’ is open to applicants. Both the Youth and Adult 2016-17 programs begin on October 7th. Interested applicants should go to www.leadershipsantafe.org to apply today. David Markwardt, Leadership Skills Facilitator will team up with Valerie Alarid, Program Director, to host the seven-month program, which falls under the banner of the Santa Fe Chamber of Commerce. Together with a class of twenty-five community leaders, class members will examine issues of economic development, health, government, non-profits, and youth & education, and meet with prominent local policy and decision makers. Leadership Santa Fe is a successful and prestigious program designed for motivated individuals who wish to learn more about the challenges facing Santa Fe and engage in the process of improving the community. The program combines interactive leadership skills training with an informative civic awareness curriculum over six weekends (Fridays and Saturdays) from October through April. “Like most of life's experiences, it's who we share them with. My fellow classmates represented a far- reaching sampling of the community. I was able to meet, collaborate and make connections with people. I would most likely never have met otherwise. My mind was opened by the opinions of others whose lives and circumstances are different from my own. Through group and one-on-one discussion, I was able to widen my understanding and knowledge of some of the complex issues faced by our community.” - Ken, Class of 2016
A launch party will take place on Wednesday, August 31st, at Rio Chama Steakhouse.
