Santa Fe Children's Museum Hosts 1st Annual Model Train Repair and Information Event

Time to Dust Off Grandpa's Model Trains!

Santa Fe, NM, January 10th, 2017 - In collaboration with the Santa Fe Model Railroad Club (SFMRRC), The Santa Fe Children's Museum is pleased to present its first ever Model Train Repair and Information event.  This gathering will take place on Sunday, Jan. 15th from 1 - 4pm on the Museum grounds, and families of all levels of interest and experience are encouraged to participate.

SFMRRC will be at your service to assist in all inquiries related to model trains.  Need help getting a train running?  Have Grandpa's old trains stored away and don't know what to do with them?  Do you need basic repairs done, or are you trying to figure out if your train is even worth repairing?  Even if you just want to talk shop or need help figuring out how to set you train up, this is the event for you!

Consisting of 70 adult members, SFMRRC has been meeting for 30 years and facilitates many of the local model train happenings that you're probably already familiar with.  Not only are they stewards of the Santa Fe Children's Museum's Holiday Trains Exhibit, they also set-up and maintain First National Bank's celebrated holiday train display off the Plaza.  They even built the model train layout at the historic Lamy Railroad Museum, and set-up twice annually at the Santa Fe Rodeo Grounds to dazzle the masses with four gauges of train layouts; G, O, HO, and N.

Most recently SFMRRC has established a Children's Train Club which meets monthly at the Santa Fe Children's Museum.  Children learn all they need to know about this exciting hobby while also learning about some of New Mexico's rich railroading history.  Soon they'll also be incorporating Pizza Box train layouts into the mix!  Children 8 yrs and up are welcome with a parent or guardian, space is limited and registration is required.  For more information, call Heidi (505) 989-8359 x. 115 or

Admission to the Children's Train Club is FREE, however general admission fees are required for full Museum access.  Children $5, Adults $7.50, and members FREE.
