Santa Fe Community College Announces PROTEC Info Sessions on Nov. 17, 19 and 29

College partners with Santa Fe County and Northern Area Workforce Development Board

Accelerated Film and Media Education Program Offered in January

SANTA FE, NM – Santa Fe Community College in partnership with Santa Fe County and the Northern Area Local Workforce Development Board announces a series of free information sessions on Nov. 17, Nov. 19 and Nov. 29 about the Professional Readiness for Technical Careers (PROTEC) accelerated film and media education program, which begins Jan. 3 at the college.

The PROTEC program will include 100 intensive hands-on classroom and on-the-job training hours for Santa Fe County residents looking to apply their skills in the local film industry. Participants will work with industry professionals, film industry career advisers and apply their skills in grip/electric, camera, editing and social media marketing. A maximum of 25 participants will be accepted into this program that is designed to introduce Santa Fe County residents to job possibilities and careers in the New Mexico film and media industries.

The film industry continues to have robust growth in New Mexico. This year Santa Fe County projects that more than $100 million will be spent in production in the region. 

The public is invited to learn more about the PROTEC educational opportunity at three free Santa Fe information sessions:

10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 17 at New Mexico Workforce Connection, 301 W. DeVargas Street. (Check in at front desk for room designation.)
1 p.m. Sat. Nov. 19 at the Santa Fe Higher Education Center, 1950 Siringo Road. (Room 145)
5:30 p.m. Tues. Nov. 29 at Santa Fe Community College, 6401 Richards Ave. (Room 563)
