Motorcyclist Group Promotes Awareness of Depression and Suicide in Santa Fe, New Mexico on September 25th, 2016. Black Dog Ride partners with Mental Health First Aid USA for 2nd Annual American tour.

Motorcycle Riders from New Mexico and surrounding areas will gather at Santa Fe Harley-Davidson for the second annual “Black Dog Ride” across the United States. The Black Dog Ride flagshipped in Australia making their first ever American Cross Country Tour in 2015. Partnering with Mental Health First Aid USA, the Black Dog Ride aims to raise mental health awareness and funds to train more veterans and first responders in Mental Health First Aid.

Steve Andrews founded the Black Dog Ride in Australia in 2009 following the sudden deaths of his mother and his best friend’s wife by suicide. Since then, the Black Dog Ride has raised over $1.7 million for mental health providers in Australia. This year, the group is raising money for Mental Health First Aid USA.

This ride highlights a topic that hits home for many New Mexicans especially one of the owners of Santa Fe Harley-Davidson. David & Jim Pearson’s mother and father both died by suicide. “This is close to home for us and we support any engagement with people that provide them better options.” stated David Pearson

Santa Fe Harley-Davidson will be hosting a Meet and Greet Breakfast at 7:30am on Sunday the 25th. We invite the community to join in supporting the millions of Americans who are affected by depression and suicide. The ride departs at 8:30am and goes to Taos, over the Grande Gorge Bridge with plans to be back at Santa Fe Harley-Davidson at 2pm for Ride Finale and Lunch.
