The modern poster was a unique invention using color lithography when it was still a new medium for creative design and responding to the needs of a burgeoning consumer culture that spurred the development of modern advertising. Inspired by the freedom from constraining traditions of art, the modern poster has entered history as art, design, and advertising. Dr. Ruth Iskin, Professor Emeritus of Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, Israel, acclaimed author and scholar of modern and contemporary art, will discuss the unique convergence of art, advertising, and design in the modern poster.
