The University of Notre Dame Glee Club, directed by Daniel Stowe, will present a concert of

sacred and secular music on Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at 7:30 p.m. The performance will take

place at the historic Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi, 231 Cathedral Place, just off the

Plaza, in Santa Fe, NM.

In 2015, the sixty-voice all-men’s chorus celebrated its Centennial as a noted university

choral ensemble and a Notre Dame tradition.  The concert program will feature classical music for

men’s chorus as well as sea shanties, folk songs, African-American spirituals, barbershop harmony,

and, of course, the famous “Notre Dame Victory March.”

Each year on the Notre Dame campus the Glee Club presents several formal concerts and

dozens of informal performances at University events; they also appear with the South Bend

Symphony Orchestra, often in tandem with the St. Mary’s College Women’s Choir. In recent years

the Club has performed on tour in over 40 U.S. states, and internationally in Canada, Mexico,

Central America, Europe, and Asia.

Opening the concert that evening, the Schola Cantorum, the top select mixed ensemble of

the Los Alamos High School choral program, under the direction of Jason Rutledge, will present

several musical pieces and join the Notre Dame Glee Club later in the concert for a joint number.

This 30-person ensemble consistently earns superior ratings at district and state choral

competitions. They have recently appeared at Lincoln Center in New York City as well as on tour

through the Czech Republic, Austria, Hungary, and Germany. The group has also served as the

Honor Choir at the National Association for Music Educator’s New Mexico All-State Conference,

and will return to New York to perform at Carnegie Hall this spring.

Goodwill donations will be accepted at the performance, in lieu of admission tickets. For

information on the event, please contact the campus Tour Manager or Santa Fe representative as

noted above. For additional information on the Glee Club, please visit http://www.ndgleeclub.com.
