Celebrate the Season with Cars for Kids - SantaFe.com

It’s finally October, bringing with it crisp Autumn air, fruitful harvests, and everything pumpkin spice. Which means it’s also time to think about supporting Cars for Kids Trunk or Treat Car Show, the annual fall fundraiser for Children’s Miracle Network. This year’s free event, sponsored in part by Toyota of Santa Fe, takes place at the new State Employees Credit Union Campus in Santa Fe – which is also holding its grand opening – on October 21, 2023, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Where the Fun Is

Dress the kids up in their favorite costumes and bring them out to Cars for Kids for an afternoon of Trunk or Treating, then let them run wild in the Kid’s Zone, where they can take part in activities, visit a pumpkin patch, play games, and even watch a magic act! It’s kids helping kids, with a little help from their parents, of course. Donations are always welcome, and funds raised during Cars for Kids are specifically earmarked for The Connected Academy, the on-site learning facility at UNM Children’s Hospital that allows children in the hospital to keep up with their studies.

There will also be plenty for adults to do at Cars for Kids, too, including a car show, ribbon cuttings, a sweepstakes, and live music from some of New Mexico’s favorite bands. Entertainment for this year’s event includes The Daniel Solis Band from Belen, playing New Mexico country and Spanish music; Albuquerque’s own Simpatico, playing Tejano, Rock, Country and Blues; and the Nathaniel Krantz Band, another Albuquerque outfit playing a variety of modern and traditional country music.

A highlight of Cars for Kids is, of course, the Classic Car Show. This is a rain or shine event, and space is limited, so if you’ve got a classic car to show off register now. Attendees of Cars for Kids will get the opportunity to vote for their favorites, and prizes will be given out.

About Children’s Miracle Network

More than 10 million kids enter a children’s hospital like your local children’s hospital across North America every year. To provide the best care for kids, children’s hospitals rely on donations and community support, as Medicaid and insurance programs do not fully cover the cost of care. Since 1983, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals has helped fill those funding gaps by raising more than $7 billion, most of it $1 at a time through Miracle Balloon icon campaigns. Its various fundraising partners and programs support the nonprofit’s mission to save and improve the lives of as many children as possible.

The State ECU Campus is located at 1611 Calle Lorca in Santa Fe. For more information about Cars for Kids, and the State ECU Campus ribbon cutting, visit the website.
