Connect With Community at the End Of Summer Fiesta

As the summer slowly winds down, and cooler weather makes the outdoors more bearable, the urge to get out and do something becomes a call to action. Weekends become a time when engaging with the entire family is a top priority. The Big Brothers Big Sisters Mountain Region (BBBSMR) has just the event for you! Their End of Summer Fiesta transforms Wicked West Harley Davidson, at 4360 Rodeo Drive, into a community block party for families of all ages, Saturday, September 3, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

“Our event with Wicked West Harley Davidson is all about collaborating to bring a little family fun to our local community,” says Director of Events and Engagement for BBBSMR Bianca Delgado. “We want to offer this free event to families as an opportunity to swing by, enjoy some fun and connect with our mission of empowering youth to reach their greatest potential.”

The event includes a full slate of family entertainment, with a local DJ providing the musical backdrop, while the kids can work off their energies in a bouncy castle, or play games with their parents, like Cornhole, Connect 4 and more. Raffle tickets provide more opportunities for enjoyment, with a variety of fantastic prizes donated by local businesses. Food vendors will also be on hand, though Bianca points out that “We are not charging businesses to be there, so if anyone wants to hold a booth or be a vendor, contact me at [email protected]

Bianca also reveals that this particular event isn’t really a fundraiser, per se, but rather a community engagement event wherein “we are more focused on connecting with the community.” To that end, BBBSMR has teamed up with Wicked West Harley Davidson who, she says, are lending their parking lot as a gathering space.

“Wicked West Harley Davidson has been adamant about supporting their local community, including our organization and the youth we serve so we want to thank them for their help,” Bianca says.

Since 1979, Big Brothers Big Sisters Mountain Region has been matching children ages six through eighteen with adult volunteers who then mentor them through life and all of its many variations. Research shows that positive relationships between Littles and Bigs have a direct and measurable impact on children’s lives. Having a special adult they can turn to gives a Little greater self-confidence, leads to better choices, and generates more hopeful plans for the future.
