Dance Arts Los Alamos  (DALA), a pillar of the Northern New Mexico arts community since 1994, is set to enthrall audiences with a Spring Gala and a series of performances that showcase the depth and diversity of its dance classes. 

You are invited to a dazzling spring season of productions by this beloved local dance company from April 27 – May 4, to see why DALA has been a cherished part of the Los Alamos community for generations.

DALA’s spring season features five days with four exceptional events, showcasing the talents of dancers of all age groups and skill levels. Attend the elegant gala, see the world premiere of a three-act ballet, enjoy a mixed repertoire program, and an adorable youth performance.

DALA’s spring season commences with the third annual Spring Gala fundraising event. This sophisticated evening features dancing, drinks, hors d’oeuvres, and presentations from DALA’s artistic staff and board of directors. 

Attendees are invited to enjoy exclusive insights about the dance company’s three-act original production of La Lune de Bleu, opportunities to support DALA’s nonprofit initiatives, and the first announcement of DALA’s 2025 – 2026 programming.

DALA’s Spring Gala tickets are $75, which includes admission to the gala and a seat for the Friday, May 2, La Lune de Bleu performance.

Spring Mixed Repertoire Concert 

DALA presents Spring Mixed Repertoire Concert.

DALA’s Spring Mixed Repertoire Concert highlights a variety of dance styles, including modern, jazz, and contemporary pieces, demonstrating DALA’s dancer versatility. This exciting event displays the spectrum of DALA-offered dance education programs and is appropriate for an all-ages audience. Spring Mixed Repertoire Concert tickets cost $5. 

May 2 & 4

La Lune de Bleu

DALA presents the world premiere of La Lune de Bleu, an original full-length ballet in three acts written and choreographed by Artistic Director Jonathan Guise. The ballet follows the love story of Selene, the moon goddess, and Endymion, a mortal shepherd. After falling in love, Selene faces divine disapproval and the schemes of Pan. Endymion, seeking to reunite with Selene, accepts help from Hades, but becomes trapped in the Underworld. Selene pleads with Zeus and the gods for help, but must descend into Hades’ realm to rescue Endymion herself.

The DALA dancer cast will be joined by guest artists Aiden Moss of Ballet San Antonio, Skylar Burson of Ballet Tucson, and freelance artist Brandon Penn. 

The thrilling production features all new choreography by Jonathan Guise, Rachel Zervakos, Karina Wilder, Allison Beaux, Isabella Jimenez, Audrey Roman, and Natalie Smith, with all new costume and scenic design by local Los Alamos artists and designers.

La Lune de Bleu tickets are available now, and priced at $5 for students, $10 for seniors, and $25 for general admission.

May 3

Alice in Wonderland Young Children’s Program Spring Showcase

The Young Children’s Program will present its spring dance recital, Alice in Wonderland. This performance features DALA’s youngest dancers (ages 3 – 10), offering a delightful interpretation of Lewis Carroll’s fantastical tale. Community members can support these budding dancers in a touching showcase revealing the joy of early dance instruction. DALA’s Alice in Wonderland tickets cost $5.

About Dance Arts Los Alamos

Dance Arts Los Alamos is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to promoting dance education and performing arts in Los Alamos and Northern New Mexico since 1994. 

With over 75 hours of instruction offered weekly across locations in both White Rock and Los Alamos, DALA provides comprehensive dance instruction in various disciplines, including Dance Exploration, Pre-Ballet, Classical Ballet & Pointe, Modern, Jazz, Hip Hop, Flamenco, Classical Spanish, Tap, Musical Theatre, and an Adaptive Dance program for dancers with special needs to dance in a safe, paced, and professional environment.

DALA serves over 300 students and presents multiple productions per year, including the beloved Nutcracker on The Hill, a full-length ballet in the spring, the annual Mixed Repertory and Young Children’s Showcases, plus additional productions throughout New Mexico. 

All DALA instructors have professional dance backgrounds, achieved higher education in dance, or both, creating a supportive environment where dancers of all ages and abilities can thrive. 

DALA serves as a vital community dance organization that enriches Northern New Mexico through extraordinary performances and dance education.
