Plaza Café Southside showcases my most estimates the biggest comfort food good old home cooking dish menus in Santa Fe. Offering people hankering for fantastic diner style cuisine, amazing creative margaritas, fancy cocktails and classic mixed drinks and mind blowing delicious desserts and pies to die for is what this classic eating establishment does really, really well. Continuing the Razatos family traditions started when they opened its original downtown restaurant Plaza Café, in 1947, owner Leonardo Razatos included several of its dishes on his new restaurant menu, plus added several new dishes to it the menu to further tantalize patrons taste buds. Plaza Café Southside is a fixture and a favorite of visitors and locals of all the eateries and café’s located in and around the Regal Stadium 14 Theatre, otherwise known as the San Isidro Plaza, 3466 Zafarano Dr., Santa Fe, New Mexico.
Plaza Café Southside menu covers a wide array of meals and tastes, ranging from breakfast served from opening time to closing time, pancakes, a variety of egg dishes, phenomenal burgers, fajitas, enchiladas, sandwiches, mouth-watering melts, to-die-for Frito pie, salads, steak, chicken, and fish. The bar and drink menu is excellent. It includes drinks and cocktails of all types with style and grace including margaritas, wine, beer, horchata, prickly pear lemonade, espresso,a root-beer float, a vanilla malt and a red-velvet-cake shake.
Plaza Café Southside backs the local farm-to-table program by buying from local growers. It uses cage-free eggs and local grass-feed antibiotic-free beef. The restaurant’s breads, desserts and pastries are all made or baked fresh on-site daily. Downhome homemade hash browns are par for the course, not the pre-packaged frozen variety one finds at chain restaurants. Plaza Café Southside has created an amazing to-die-for house-made jalapeño malt vinegar for its super-crisp fried fish. Additional culinary delights include salsa, pico de gallo and amazing flaky white code fish breaded nicely and fried just right. One of the most classic sandwiches offered ever is its avocado cheddar fried egg BLT. Servings are plentiful on the entire menu and quite often family members will split a dish because it is big enough to feed two.
Desserts are one of the primary dishes Plaza Café Southside is known for in Santa Fe. People rave about the pies and pastries. The apple and spicy roasted green chile pie with its nice splash of cinnamon is a dessert master piece. The cupcakes at the Plaza Café Southside weigh more than some big paper weights and are doubly delicious. Several of the desserts are from the original recipes of the Plaza Café. The classic of all time offered on the dessert menu is its Tres Leches which includes cuatro leches. It is a-can’t miss dessert treat.
