Special Activities
Families can embark on exploring The City Different with educational hikes and kid-friendly biking tours with the resort’s Adventure Center, an on-site hub with expert guides to lead guests in immersing themselves with the region. On the Rio en Medio explorative hike, families will meander through a mountain canyon, home to oak trees, prickly-pear cactus, cholla cactus, ponderosa pines, and towering Douglas fir trees, with a moderate course that culminates at a pool-and-water cascade. With Pacheco Canyon Downhill, an exhilarating and easy to moderate downhill bike ride from the Santa Fe Ski Basin at 10,350 feet treks through a canyon full of pine, aspen groves, mountain streams, meadows and spring wildflowers descending into a piñon- and juniper-dotted landscape.
For wine connoisseurs, “Boots & Bubbles” offers a Southwest kick with a visit to the iconic luxury boot boutique Back at the Ranch, touted as the Rolls-Royce of boots that’s made it a favorite among celebrities, for an exclusive shopping experience and meeting with founder and famed boot designer, Wendy Henry. The boot making excursion is followed by a wine tasting at Gruet Winery, a New Mexico vineyard and one of the top sparkling wine producers in the country, for a special flight of premium wines and select vintages.
Unwind at The Spa
Literature, margaritas, and Meow Wolf
Also new in Santa Fe this spring is the inaugural Santa Fe Literary Festival taking place May 20 – 23. This new event brings together influential authors such as George R. R. Martin and celebrated chef Freddie Bitsoie to honor books with literary-themed activities, including curated meals with cookbook authors, one-on-one conversations with bestselling writers, along with a Tea & Tequila session with afternoon tea and tequila tastings.
The tequila exploration can be extended with the Santa Fe Margarita Trail that allows for the tasting of more than 40 of the best margaritas in the world. Those strolling Santa Fe’s historic downtown will encounter the Santa Fe Plaza, which won the No. 3 spot on the Top 10 Public Squares of 2021 list by USA Today, to enjoy the springtime weather and visit countless restaurants, boutiques, bookstores and art galleries. Santa Fe, home to an astonishing array of art with more than 250 galleries, is an art lover’s dream for finding the next perfect piece. For an immersive art experience, the city is also home to the headquarters of Meow Wolf and its first-ever exhibit — the kaleidoscopic “House of Eternal Return” complete with more than 70 rooms taking participants on a macrocosmic adventure only found in Santa Fe.
