The Santa Fe Opera presents the Santa Fe screening of Eugene Onegin, at Villa Linda Park, Monday, August 2, 2021, at 4 p.m. Potent emotion and sweeping drama take the stage as Tatyana’s confession of love is rejected by Onegin who, a little too late, realizes his mistake. Tchaikovsky’s lush melodies create the intense drama of one of Pushkin’s greatest stories and Alessandro Talevi’s new production centers on the opera’s nostalgic theme of what was, what was not and what could have been.
Sponsored by the City of Santa Fe and hosted by the Santa Fe Kiwanis Club, the event will feature performances by local youth talent, including Maatuu Dance Group, the Erik Fender Dance Group, Theo Kutsko and the Choral Arts Society of St Michael’s High School, beginning at 3:30 p.m. A pre-recorded performance of the opera will follow at 4 p.m. via two 300-square foot LED walls. This will provide attendees with a state-of-the-art viewing experience, while sound will be broadcast via outdoor speakers. The opera invites people to bring a picnic, spread out on the grass and enjoy this free show. For more information, visit the website.
