Drawing inspiration from the colossal beauty of the natural world, Writing the Wild focuses on writing nature/eco/eco justice poems with a view to publication. Taught by award-winning poet and editor, Pam Uschuk, this course meets for 4 days, 1.5 hours each day, every other day for one week.
This class explores how diverse writers use their observations about and interactions/interconnection with the wild natural world to fuel-inject and enliven their poems. Emphasis is on technique as well as on a spiritual connection to land. Among the poets studied are Linda Hogan, WS Merwin, Joy Harjo, Drew Lanham, Camille Dungy, Alison Hawthorne Deming, Alice Walker, Louise Erdrich, Luis Alberto Urrea, Leslie Marmon Silko, etc.
