Help Those Less Fortunate at the Hungry Mouth Festival - SantaFe.com

As long as there are mouths to feed, there will be a need for compassionate giving, both from the heart and the stomach. Now in its eleventh year benefitting St. Elizabeth Shelters, the Hungry Mouth Festival is an evening of delectable food by some of Santa Fe’s best chefs – who will be competing for top honors – along with live music, a silent auction, and more. The Hungry Mouth Festival will tantalize taste buds for a good cause at the Scottish Rite Temple, on Saturday, November 11, 2023, 5 – 10 p.m.

This Year’s Competition

Get ready for a delightful evening of wonderful food by some of the amazing chefs who call Santa Fe home, at the Hungry Mouth Festival. Orchestrating an incredible four-course meal, they will be tantalizing your taste buds with their culinary skills, all while vying for the honor of being Top Chef of the evening. As an attendee, you will be a judge, voting on your favorite dishes to crown this year’s winner.

The chefs for this year’s friendly competition include Erica Tai of Alkemy – Open Kitchen, Rony Guitierrez from Dinner For Two, Patrick Lambert with Cowgirl BBQ and personal chef / food writer Mark Oppenheimer.

The Evening’s Entertainment

Entertainment for the Hungry Mouth Festival will be a live performance by Matthew Andrae and The Swinging Jockeys. Based in Santa Fe, Matthew has been lauded for his unique percussive style, exotic guitar work, and a vocal style reminiscent of Kenny Loggins or Michael McDonald. His work has been heard on the PBS special The World’s Largest Concert – taped live at the 2002 Winter Olympic Games – and the CBS Movie The Staircase.

Steve Rodby, bassist for the Pat Metheny Group said of Matthew, “He’s one of those rare people who can combine instrumental talent, instrumental innovation, and vocal talent with great songwriting, both musically and lyrically… and he can fuse them all together in a single powerful message. One that is aware of our times and of its social issues.”

Bid On An Exotic Trip

In addition to fine food and infectious music, the Hungry Mouth Festival also includes a Silent Auction, with top prizes including trips to such amazing destinations as:

  • The Amalfi Coast – Seven nights for two adults in a private apartment with spectacular views, as well as some of Italy’s top spots for hiking.
  • Los Cabos – Four nights for two adults at an all-inclusive beachfront resort, with full amenities including meals and drinks, and sport fishing in the Sea of Cortez.
